Review Policy and System

Review Policy:

I am an avid reader and like to take my time reading what’s in front of me. When I read I take notes about many things, from main ideas and quotes to impressions and hunches. I then use these notes to write reviews. However, these notes are not comprehensive, and they are not professional, doctoral grade notes. They are simply what I find important in the work at hand and my reaction to what I read.

That being said, these reviews are meant to elicit a better standing of the work at hand and provide a recommendation whether to read the work or not. What I say about a book may not be the definitive judgement about the book. It is up to you who choose to read my book to make your own judgement about the book as well. If my reviews make the book sound enticing, fantastic! If not, then I will do better.

I try and be optimistic about reviewing books. The authors spent many days, even lifetimes, on some of the books we read. In these reviews, despite what rating I may give, want to acknowledge and respect the writer and their work. It’s not easy to write a book.

I have a wide interest in the wealth of knowledge you can learn from books of all genres. However, I pick my books like I grocery shop; I pick whatever looks good to me! I tend to stick to science fiction and dystopian novels, but I branch out and read other works of fiction as well. I tend to stay away from mysteries and romance books, but I wouldn’t rule them out. I also like reading nonfiction, but my tastes vary greatly and they lead me to reading about things I know nothing about. It’s humbling to learn something completely new, I encourage each and everyone of you to delve into some obscure topic you know very little about.

I’m open to suggestions as to what book I should read next or in the future. You can contact me here!
